Accessibility
At Canon, we know firsthand that there is more to technology than exciting new products. Technology is also about new choices – decisions that have to be made about what is important to people. Part of Canon Know How involves making technology approachable. Canon products are intended to empower people, to give them the ability to express ideas and achieve amazing things.
Canon is dedicated to providing access to all users and is continuously undergoing research and development to make Canon products as accessible as possible. We look forward to continuing to deliver more exciting advances to you in the 21st century.
Certain Canon products currently offer such user-friendly features such as front-loading paper cassettes, adjustable display contrasts; center raised numeric locators, remote keyboards, remote user interface and easily removable interiors for adding toner. Accessibility Solutions
Accessibility Kit-A1
With the use of the Accessibility Kit-A1, imageRUNNER customers are able to connect to a network environment without purchasing a Printer Kit, enabling the use of the Remote UI Copier Feature of their device. The Remote UI Copier Feature lets users set and use copy settings from a PC. The Accessibility Kit-A1 has been specifically designed to meet the needs of customers who do not require printing features, but would still like to use Remote UI.
For users in wheelchairs, a PC located near the copy machine would allow a disabled person to utilize the features of the operation panel. Wheelchair users of small stature will have little difficulty in seeing the basic copy features of the control panel, thus making the Remote UI Copier a more convenient option. Glare problems resulting from the viewing angle are also eliminated.
Visually-impaired users have the ability to take advantage of almost all the basic copy features found on the control panel with the use of third party screen reading and/or magnification software.
Accessibility Handle-A1
The Accessibility Handle-A1 is an optional handle that can be installed onto the document feeders of various imageRUNNER devices.
Copy machine users who use wheelchairs often experience difficulty in reaching a fully raised document feeder when attempting to close it. The Accessibility Handle-A1 has been designed to aid in that progress for disabled users. The Accessibility Handle hangs low enough from an open document feeder to enable a person in a wheelchair to easily reach the handle to close the document feeder.
Voice Guidance Kit-A2
Enables visually impaired users to be able to operate the copy functions on the device. These users can select functions on the control panel and the machine will provide voice guidance confirmations of the selected operations.
